Busy Family Farm is Busy!

FRESH abundant PRODUCE is starting to become available for our local patrons! This year is turning out to be a bumper crop year but it is not without its challenges. The UV radiation is so intense, it makes it more difficult to keep the soil moist around the root base. It requires of us to water twice a day, even with cardboard and other toppers to retain the moisture.

Picture shows a round heirloom variety of Zucchini and Yellow squash (Zucchini fritters are on the menu today!). You will learn what I did and how I am using my greenhouse this year (a video coming soon).

What is or will be available besides what is shown in the picture (contact us for daily availability):

* Sprigs of Dill, cooking Sage, sprigs of French tarragon, Lavender for sachets, dried Calendula flowers, dried Yarrow, Echinacea (fresh or dried).

Broccoli,

Tomatoes,

Winter squash

Sugar pumpkin

green and purple pressing grapes

Red raspberries

Blue elderberries

Horseradish root

Cukes (slicing and Lemon varieties)

How wonderful! I remember your elderberries from a few years ago. Do you ship dried raspberries, elderberries and sage? Do you have an online presence or is your marketing locally-based? I miss my okra and squash, etc.. but you remind me of how rewarding it is to be able to plan meals with fruit and vegetables from your own gardens and greenhouses. Thanks for sharing your photos! Awesome produce!

Replying to

Hi, and yes, I plan on drying limited quantities of Red raspberries and Blue elderberries. I have limited space currently to have dry storage and hope to get another out-building specifically for that purpose! I have the farm listed at several online market places: Eat Local First (https://eatlocalfirst.org/listing/busy-family-farm/) and at https://foodmarketmaker.com/business/bus-5ACZqbBVg

Herbs will be available also dry in limited quantities and by mail order later in the season. Thanks for your support! Helen
