Fig Harvest in Western Washington State

A recent cool-down in Western Washington brought some much-needed rain. Cooler and wetter weather was good for ripening already-formed figs! Dehydrating these. Within the week, we should have at least what I picked off our fig tree today, and this picture shows only the first layer prepared for the dehydrator. I planted the trees soon after moving in, and a resident said it would never grow. Delicious, tree-sweet figs can't be beaten!
