Funding Available for Orgs that Claim to Serve Minority-Underserved Farmers

Writer: HelenHelen

It is now known as the United States Department of Agriculture's 2501 Grant Program. This original program was intended under President Biden to correct the misuse of partitionment and consequential land title issues, primarily involving Black and American Indian lands. The Biden Administration implemented an unprecedented and well-intended program. Then, the Department of Agriculture was sued by wanton claims of "inverse discrimination," the matter was settled out of court to create this "ping-pong" about the money. National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC) has noticed the "revamped" program is riddled with delays and unusually short time frames - 30 days for applicant organizations to apply. Funding that was previously allocated, NSAC suggested that the USDA improve oversight to ensure accessibility to this funding, which was previously allocated.

Yes, it was intended to correct generational wrong (theft of land/farmland), but now it will only serve the nay-sayers to say, "Look, the government can't do anything right." But there is still hope for those with land title issues, and I have worked years in research and scholarly effort to bring a system that works. I had hoped the original program under the Biden Administration would bring light to this solution.
