Apple Fritter Critters & Halloween

Apple and pears will be harvested substantially this year at #BFF (Busy Family Farm)! This year represents the best harvest since I planted the trees about seven (7) years ago! Both varieties of apples and pears are gifting us bounty. Elderberries are ripe or nearly ready for harvest.


After removing some fruit to enlarge the growth of the remaining fruit, I used the smaller fruit to make apple fritters today. The simple apple fritter recipe is from my old Pennsylvania Dutch cookbook (my Mom came from Pennsylvania Quakers on one side of her family tree and the English royal family on the other—the impoverished American side). I had buttermilk on hand, which added a softness to the cooked fritters.


My birthday season officially started today!
