This winter in 2022 has been particularly harsh and cold. Condensation still occurs around newer vinyl windows because the outside temperature is different from inside your home. This is a problem that can't totally be prevented. If you have newer windows and want to prevent black mold from growing around the window seal and thereby spreading to the vinyl frame, I recommend the use of petroleum jelly (100% petroleum, with nothing added). Use your finger or cotton swab and layer the petroleum jelly on the seal (where the glass meets the frame). Mold or mildew can't grow because petroleum acts as a growth inhibitor. If you already have signs of mold or mildew on windows then use hydrogen peroxide, spray apply liberally and let it sit for 6 minutes or until dry. Hydrogen peroxide kills everything. Clean up the site and then apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly where the mold and mildew were found, and the petroleum inhibits further growth by depriving the mold and mildew of oxygen. #blackmoldprevention
