Robert Kramer, guest blogger, updates us on the status of what was once known as the United States of America. It has changed by the illegal implementation of #project2025
Today Refugees and asylum seekers are denied humanitarian assistance.
The ironically named "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (OBBBA) adopted in July 2025, denies previously available humanitarian benefits to more than 90,000 people escaping violence, religious persecution, or human trafficking. There will be significantly less help during the critical first year after their arrival. (What has happened to Christian values?)
The torch that Lady Liberty holds high no longer illuminates the way forward for recent arrivals to America but highlights the anti-immigrant and anti-humanitarian bias of the current (Trump) Republican administration.
SNAP Eligibility: SNAP or (food stamps) is only provided now if refugees and asylum seekers become Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs).
Cash and Medical Aid: Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) and Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) are cut to just four months, down from 12.
Monthly Food Aid: Up to 90,000 people will face an average reduction of $210 in monthly food aid.
Vulnerable Groups: Refugees, asylum seekers, and even survivors of trafficking will receive less humanitarian assistance.
Exceptions: Only refugees who have attained LPR status (green card holders) are exempt from the waiting period.
The administration claims cuts will reduce "fraud and waste,” as it spends billions for war and Trump monuments.
Will Americans find their way out of this dark period?
